We're a geek culture podcast and blog covering video games, music, food and more. We are the kinds of people who evangelize whatever we are into - it could be anything - but it's usually pretty geeky. We're casual, conversational, NSFW and hopefully interesting. We hope you enjoy it.

about

What Is a podcast?

A podcast is basically an on-demand radio show. It can be talk radio, it can be music. Whatever you want, whatever your crazy interests are, there is probably a podcast for it. The word "pod"cast is a misnomer, however, as you don't need an iPod to play it. It's just an mp3 file distributed in an rss feed.

Übercaster

how the weekly geek is made

The Weekly Geek has gone through about a million different procedures of production. First we were a real radio show on the ACTUAL radio, and we would record using actual radio equipment (go figure!). Now we record using Ubercaster and a pair of sweet Blue Snowball microphones. This all goes down on a Macbook pro in the Weekly Geek's official recording studio.

Then I upload the tagged mp3 file to the server and update the rss feed! Then it is delivered to you, hot and fresh straight to your door.

frodo

Chris Furniss

Frodo's real name is Chris Furniss and he can be seen in his basement creating horrible video game fan art and playing World of Warcraft. His favorite games include The Legend of Zelda series, the Metroid series, Harvest Moon, Earthbound, Final Fantasy, Katamari and more. Use this information wisely.

Hit up Chris on AIM with the secret code word: frodoboba.

Chris is a big fan of music and has varied tastes. Check out Chris' music listening habits at Last.fm.

Like funny things? Maybe you will find Chris' comic strip to your liking.

Enjoy ranting? Chris' blog has tons of ranting.

Chris is also an officer in The Order of the Tapeworm (Myrdin).

Caspian

Mike Wiegand

Caspian (Mike Wiegand) like music. He goes to shows and gawks over neat guitars. What a dork! If he could only listen to 5 artists, they would be: Elliott Smith, Depeche Mode, Johnny Cash, Miles Davis, and Led Zeppelin.

He's also been known to play XBox360 for hours on end. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion are his current gaming favorites.

Colette Bennett

Colette started writing about games in summer 2006 and shortly thereafter did freelance work for Kotaku. She was asked to join the Destructoid staff as an editor and robot stripper in December 2006 . She does a podcast with them called RetroforceGo! in addition to the wonderful Weekly Geek. Her most recent project is with Azeroth World News and explores the world of MMOs. When not chained to her raven and writing desk, she abuses XBLA for all it is worth, collects overpriced vinyl toys and tries to keep her kitten Ender from destroying the house.

Qais

Qais

Qais started gaming on a Nintendo his father was given by the Saudi Embassy for...something. Years later he continues his involvement in illicit transactions, now centering on comic books, lowbrow art, and gaming. Sometimes there is sleep.

You can read more of Qais' scribblings at his blog or contact him at mister.swyve@gmail.com

Mack

Mack Rieder-Johnson is an obsessive dork. Things he currently obsesses over include (but are not limited to) comics, toys, plastic guitars, robots, aliens, and alien robots. Email him here.

SecksCab

I read more than most mortal men poop, my life partner is an iPod and I hate sand. Email: adorablepuppies@gmail.com.

The Geek

Grant Darigol

The Geek (Grant Darigol) likes to play video games and watch cartoons. He's a geek, duh. While not always on top of every single newest game and system due to financial restraints, he's a true old school gamer. He started out with an Odyssey II and still has his old 1978 LED blip hand held football game. (It still works, too!)

He enjoys pretty much all styles of video games, though sports games are about at the bottom of the list. It's hard for him to list all-time favorites, as what he likes to play depends on the mood he's in. He enjoys the Zelda and Final Fantasy series as well as Tekken and Mega Man. But he's down for playing just about anything if you wanna play too.

He enjoys nearly all cartoons with at least halfway decent animation, art, and voice acting, but absolutely loathes anything from Klasky Csupo. Some favorite cartoons are Megas XLR, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (old and new), Samurai Jack, and recently has taken an interest in Avatar The Last Airbender.

The Geek also has a fairly impressive video game soundtrack collection, amassed over the years and is quite proud that not a single one is a dirty, dirty bootleg from those jerks at companies like Ever Anime and Son May.

The Geek is a font of some of the most useless trivia factoids ever. He'll rock you in a game of You Don't Know Jack any day of the week.

White Mage

Amy Darigol

White Mage (Amy Darigol) has been gaming all her life. Whether they are card, board, tabletop, or video, she loves to play them all.

If it is a card or board game, teach her the rules and she will want to play until you are sick of it. She grew up on Uno, The Farming Game, Monopoly, and Poker. She is always searching for someone to play with.

Although she has only experienced Dungeons and Dragons and Shadowrun, she is always ready to bring her bag of dice and try a new tabletop.

White Mage loves RPG, puzzle, and non-traditional video games. At one point she was playing four Massively Multiplayer Online games at once, but now she is focused solely on World of Warcraft. She also loves the Final Fantasy, Tetris, Wild Arms, and Harvest Moon series. And, if it's any other genre, she will eagerly watch you play. She has a collection of over seventy games, seven systems, and two computers.

Don't make her mad, or she won't heal you.

Q: How do I contact said geeks?

A: When the GeekSignal™ isn't available via the mayor's office, try mailbag@weeklygeekshow.com.

You can also add the name chrisfurniss to Skype and leave us a voice mail to be played on the air!

Q: Where do you guys get your topics?

A: Deep within the dank topic mines of Venezuela. From those steamy depths we shovel all our goods into this Del.icio.us list. If you want a sneak peek at what we are talking about in the next week's podcast, that would be a good place to look.

Q: Where do you guys live?

A: Between the tubes of the World Wide Interweb. You can see us geeks on our Frappr map, and even add yourself! Technology is amazing, huh?

Q: How do you find such cool people to interview?

A: It never hurts to ask. Also being wiry and able to hop fences helps.
