Select Official Square Enix Soundtracks for Sale

chronotriggerost.jpgYou know those booths at comic book or anime conventions selling game soundtracks? Yeah, those are usually dirty pirated bootleg knockoffs. Same goes with soundtracks you buy on eBay or from *most* websites. Square Enix bootlegs are notorious, considering they have such a vast library of hard to find soundtracks. The official SE store has a sale going on right now, so you have absolutely no excuse not to purchase the official Chrono Trigger Soundtrack for $16.99. Also on sale are soundtracks for Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX, X, XI and The World Ends With You. Sweet!

Free Game Month on Goozex

goozexpoints.jpgGoozex, that ubiquitous master of videogame trading services, is having "Free Game Month", where new accounts get 100 free Goozex points (which is neat!). If you aren't familiar with Goozex, we here at The Weekly Geek use it constantly to refresh our game libraries. You see, instead of giving your old games to Gamestop and getting only pennies on the dollar back, you trade your game directly to other Goozex users online and get the exact value of your game back in Goozex points. You can then use your points to trade for games from other people. I've been able to really round out my collection of rare and otherwise lesser-known games, and if you haven't checked it out and are perhaps low on cash, now's a great time to jump on the Goozex bandwagon. It's one bandwagon you won't regret jumping on.

I even have a game all picked out for you already.

Crack on the Cheap

crackdowntarget.jpg

If you haven't checked out one of the best games of 2007, Crackdown is currently being marked down heavily at Target stores. Kotaku reports that some community members have found copies for as low as $14. Spend part of your tax refund early if you haven't already spent it on something stupid like an iPhone or paying bills or baby food.

Smash Bros Brawl for $43.59 at Costco

smashbrawlcostco.jpegI was in Costco today picking up a pair of new glasses and lo! Either my new prescription makes it so video game prices are awesome, or Costco is selling Smash Brothers Brawl for the Wii for $43.59. That's a good six or so dollars off of the standard price! If you have yet to pick up the Brawls, I'd suggest checking out Costco first. That is, if you're a member. I hear it's a pretty exclusive club.

Xbox Live Arcade Fire Sale

xboxlivesale.jpg

From September 1st to September 3rd, you can get a great deal on some fun Xbox Live Arcade titles. In honor of Labor Day (or something) Microsoft is offering Gauntlet, Zuma Deluxe, Dig Dug and Small Arms for half off the original price. A pretty great deal for some classic arcade titles. From the press release:

Celebrate this Labor Day weekend by downloading four Arcade favorites for half the price! For the 48 hour period beginning at 12:00 a.m. GMT on Sunday, September 2 (5:00 p.m. PDT on Saturday, September 1) and continuing through 11: 59 p.m. GMT (4:59 p.m. PDT) on Monday, September 3, the following Xbox LIVE Arcade games will be available for half their usual price:
  • “Small Arms” – 400 Microsoft Points (normally 800 Microsoft Points) Easy to pick up but hard to put down, “Small Arms” is a frantic multiplayer action game with the feel of an arcade shooter.
  • “Zuma Deluxe”– 400 Microsoft Points (normally 800 Microsoft Points) Explore more than 20 realms in Adventure mode and put your skills to the test in this fast-paced puzzle game.
  • “Gauntlet” – 200 Microsoft Points (normally 400 Microsoft Points) The original dungeon crawler lets four adventurers explore and fight together as a warrior, valkyrie, wizard, and elf.
  • “Dig Dug” – 200 Microsoft Points (normally 400 Microsoft Points) Experience the fast-paced action of this quarter-cruncher from 1982 as you take control of Dig Dug himself and vanquish Pookas and Fygars.

I'd recommend getting Zuma at the very least. That game is insanely addictive. For a period of time I was seeing those damn balls and hearing their gentle knocking noise in my sleep. Okay, maybe that's not a good thing.
